The Local Government Employees (LGE) Health Plan is an exclusive corporate health insurance arrangement for local government and water industry employees.
It’s an initiative of Victoria’s peak local government body, the Municipal Association of Victoria (MAV) in conjunction with specialist health cover adviser, Choosewell Health Link Pty Ltd.
The plan provides great cover, great value and ongoing savings as well as an expert advisory service to help you find the right cover with GMHBA, the partner fund. Council employees have the option of paying by convenient automatic debits from a credit card or by bank debit.
Under the LGE Health Plan you can take a hospital cover with an excess of up to $500 per hospital admission and enjoy much lower premiums… so you save. Then, if you go to hospital and pay the excess, you can claim a refund of your excess payment from the MAV via LGE Health Plan… so you save even more. Importantly, your partner/spouse and eligible dependent children are all entitled to a refund of their excess payments under a family membership.
The excess refund is up to $250 for each hospital admission during your first 12 months of membership of the Plan and up to $500 per admission thereafter. Claims for an excess refund should be lodged with your employer. See your HR team for a claim form or download a copy here.
Join GMHBA on a hospital cover through the LGE Health Plan (with extras if you like) and get a refund on your hospital excess when you or an eligible family member go to hospital. The excess refund available to you is up to $250 per hospital admission during your first 12 months of membership of the Plan and up to $500 per hospital admission thereafter.
Special note: To access these special corporate arrangements you must join the LGE Health Plan through the plan’s advisers, Choosewell Corporate. Click the link below to request a personal review or call Choosewell on 1800 808 026.
The extended range of hospital cover options now includes accident only, basic, mid and top covers. You also have access to a range of tailored covers to better meet your needs. For example if you’re not looking to start or expand your family, you can choose a cover that excludes pregnancy & IVF and enjoy lower premiums. Or if you’re young and active, you can save by excluding hip and knee replacements or cataract eye surgery from your cover. Some of the options even let you take a cover with a hospital excess and enjoy lower premiums – and then you can claim a refund the excess from the Municipality Association of Victoria if you ever need to pay it.
Your options include a range of basic, mid and top extras cover – but the choice doesn’t end there. You can select from a range of covers that provide set benefits per service (say $50 per physiotherapy visit) or pay back a percentage of the cost. In fact, if a percentage is your preference you can choose to get 55%, 65% or even 75% back.
For your added security, if you switch to the LGE Health Plan from an equivalent cover with another fund, no new waiting periods will apply… so you won’t have to start over (even if you have a pre-existing condition).
Best of all, the LGE Health Plan provides you with free access to independent, specialist advice and guidance to ensure your health cover purchase is appropriate for your specific health care requirements and budget.
Importantly, the health cover provided through the LGE Health Plan is provided by GMHBA, a leading member owned, not-for-profit health insurer… and premiums are paid by convenient automatic debits from a bank account or credit card.
